Advocacy for Equity in Service Responses for Women who Use Drugs as Survivors of Gender Based Violence Based on TPKS Law
After the passing of the Law on Sexual Violence Offences (UU TPKS/ TPKS Law) the Institute for Criminal Justice Reform (ICJR) and the Women and Harm Reduction International Network (WHRIN) conducted research on gender-based violence experienced and the extent to which services fulfill the rights of women who use drugs. TPKS law as a comprehensive response for survivors should provide immediate protection for women who experienced sexual violence including women who use drugs.
In this study, it was found that women who use drugs are vulnerable to experiencing sexual violence, but the criminalization of drug use in the current Indonesia Narcotics Law is the biggest disincentive for women who use drugs to access justice for the violence they experienced
